OBR chairman Robert Chote explains economic forecasts

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has the job of preparing independent economic forecasts for the government and chairman Robert Chote was asked by Andrew Neil why it has been "so bad at forecasting the economy".

He said the figures had been affected by "just how the weak the recovery has been" and export performance which had been "much worse than anticipated".

Mr Chote was also asked why he wrote to the prime minister about the way some OBR figures had been used in a speech.
