Food protection and origin for pies, cheeses and wines

The source of origin labels for food are highly-prized and regulate names covering pies, cheeses and wines, but are probably more complicated than many realise.

They mean only Cornwall can produce pasties with the county name, and Melton Mowbray pies must come from the Leicestershire town.

But they also mean a blue cheese that tastes like Stilton, smells like Stilton, and is made in the village of Stilton, may not bear its name.
