Same Sex Marriage Bill debate: Miller, Woodward, Loughton, Herbert, Howarth

The government pushed through its Same Sex Marriage Bill - with the support of Labour but with the bitter opposition of many from its own side on Monday evening.

Dozens of Conservative MPs, led by former minister Tim Loughton, failed in an attempt to add an amendment allowing straight couples to take up civil partnerships - something bill supporters said was an attempt to delay or wreck their efforts.

Clips from the debate, with Culture Secretary Maria Miller, Labour MP Shaun Woodward, and Tory MPs Tim Loughton, Nick Herbert and Sir Gerald Howarth.
