Francis Maude to cut civil service and marketing costs

Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude is to detail efficiency savings "well in excess" of a previously-announced £8bn target to be made up of "difficult and unglamorous and probably unexciting things".

He told Andrew Neil that Monday's announcement will include renegotiating contacts with suppliers, cutting the size of the civil service, and stopping "ridiculous advertising and marketing spend".
