Housing benefit changes and how one man downsized

A single man explained how he moved from a three-bedroom house to a flat after his children moved out and changes to housing benefit, which were introduced in April, cut his income.

The government reckoned 660,000 people were affected by the "spare room subsidy" - known to its opponents as the "bedroom tax" - but figures for northern Manchester suggest only 3% of those affected in that area have downsized so far.

Adam Fleming reported on how people have been affected by the change, and heard fears that rents will go unpaid and what incentives are around to encourage people to move.
