George Osborne: 'Britain must stick to the plan'

The chancellor has said he wants a responsible recovery, after announcing an earlier rise in the state pension age in his Autumn Statement.

Hitting back at fears that the UK's economic recovery was based on a boom in consumer spending, George Osborne said 400,000 jobs were created this year and the UK must "stick to the plan".

He said the UK went through one of the deepest recessions in the world, and as the economy improved "the prospects for families are probably going to improve as well".

He was speaking at a JCB headquarters in the Midlands where 2,500 jobs have been created.
