Osborne: Minimum wage rise could be 'self-defeating'

Chancellor George Osborne has warned that "self-defeating" increases to the minimum wage could "cost jobs".

Mr Osborne said he wanted to see the £6.31 hourly minimum wage rise, but that it should be left to the Low Pay Commission to set the appropriate level.

The BBC's Iain Watson said there was huge speculation in Westminster about an "inflation-busting" increase in the national minimum wage.
