Free school meals scheme 'not fully funded' by government
A scheme offering free schools meals for all children under the age of seven at state-funded schools in England will not be "fully funded" by the government, a headteacher in Leeds has said.
Stephen Watkins, headteacher at Millfield Primary School in Leeds, told the Today programme that his school must find 50% of the cost of new equipment needed in order to supply the extra free meals.
He added that money will have to be taken out of the school's budget to fund the cost.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 15 May.
