Francis Maude on civil service spending and cuts
The government "can deliver more for less" said Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude about his efficiency drive in Whitehall.
He said the UK had the smallest civil service since World War 2, and some minsters found some departments which have seen "very significant cuts in the numbers,.. were working better".
And the Conservative MP added the Universal Credit was "making progress" and the "outstanding policy was very necessary."
Mr Maude said the government was "reporting very transparently" its projects, and claimed no government had done that before.
Jo Coburn highlighted some the cuts to spending and staff numbers, before she spoke to the minister, and got a Labour reaction from former Home Secretary Charles Clarke.
