Ed Miliband warns students of electoral register 'scandal'

Ed Miliband has warned young people that they could lose their right to vote in the general election unless they make sure they are added to the electoral register.

The Labour leader said almost one million voters were "missing" from the register and blamed the "hasty" introduction of the new system of individual voter registration.

The changes mean universities and colleges can no longer block-register students living in halls of residence to vote.

Speaking in front of a group of young people at Sheffield Hallam University, Mr Miliband said: "This is David Cameron and Nick Clegg's final insult to young people... we will not allow this scandal to happen."
