UKIP's Nigel Farage: Migrant numbers creating 'security crisis'

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has said the situation in Calais was becoming a ''growing crisis'' in terms of the numbers of migrants, and security.

Mr Farage said it was ''a real worry'' there was no system of checking the backgrounds of people seeking a better life in Europe by illegal means.

''We have no means of screening or checking or testing who these people are,'' he said.

''When (so-called Islamic State militants) say they will use what is happening in the Mediterranean to flood Europe with their own jihadist fighters - that is a threat we need to take very seriously indeed,'' he added.
