Unite union 'devastated' at Grangemouth job losses
The Unite union has described the planned closure of the petrochemical plant at the Grangemouth complex in central Scotland as ''industrial and economic vandalism.''
Owner Ineos has decided to shut down the plant, next to the firm's oil refinery, with the loss of about 800 jobs.
Managers are blaming Unite, saying it was the unions' refusal to guarantee there would be no further industrial action that led to the decision to close the plant.
Unite Scottish Secretary Pat Rafferty said the job losses had left members ''devastated.''
