Scottish independence: Alex Salmond unveils white paper

The Scottish government has been setting out details of how Scotland could be established as an independent country following a Yes vote in the referendum on independence.

Speaking at the launch of the 649-page white paper, Scotland's Future, First Minister Alex Salmond said: "Scotland's future is in Scotland's hands."

He said the paper addresses 650 questions that have been asked about issues such as the economy, how the welfare system would work and the implications for defence.
