Rapist 'allowed easy way out' by gender switch - Douglas Ross

The first minister has been accused of giving a rapist "an easy way out" after they switched gender.

Speaking at First Minister's Questions, Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross raised the case of Isla Bryson, who now identifies as a woman, after being convicted of two rapes committed before her gender change.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the key factor was not the individual's claim to be a woman, but that the prisoner is a rapist.
