Measles: MMR 'answer to south west Wales outbreak'

Parents in the Swansea area are being urged to help bring a measles outbreak in the city under control by using the Easter school holiday to ensure their child has the MMR vaccine.

Public health officials say 64 new cases of measles have been reported in the Swansea area in the last week taking the outbreak to 316.

More than 100 secondary and primary schools and nurseries have now been affected.

Dr Marion Lyons, director of health protection at Public Health Wales, told Bethan Rhys Roberts on BBC Radio Wales that the MMR vaccine is the answer to the question of how to bring the outbreak under control.
