Health board apologises for miscarriage diagnosis error

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has apologised after it told a woman she had suffered a miscarriage when her baby was in fact healthy.

The error at the University Hospital of Wales only came to light when Emily Wheatley, from Monmouth, went for another scan at a hospital in Monmouthshire.

The Public Services ombudsman said the hospital was at fault for not following guidance to carry out two scans before diagnosing miscarriage.
