University Hospital of Wales wrongly diagnosed miscarriage

A helpline has been set up at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) amid fears women may have wrongly been told they suffered early miscarriages.

It was launched after Emily Wheatley, from Monmouth, complained after giving birth to a healthy girl despite being told she had had a "silent" miscarriage.

The Public Service Ombudsman for Wales wants a review of midwife sonographers' competency. The Cardiff and Vale Health Board has apologised.

Ms Wheatley said the hospital had "taken away the joy of pregnancy" from her.
