Nato: No traffic 'meltdown' says Newport council

For the next few days the eyes of the world will be on Newport as it plays host to the Nato summit.

World leaders from the 28 member countries are due to start arriving at Cardiff Airport ahead of the two-day event which starts tomorrow at the Celtic Manor.

Newport Council said it would help with its regeneration, showing it had "turned the corner" and was a vibrant city.

Councillor Bob Bright, leader of Newport City Council, said despite fears the transport system would grind to a halt, disruption would be kept to a minimum.
