Glan Clwyd Hospital: Care inspectorate 'sorry' for failings

The boss of a healthcare inspection body has apologised to patients at a north Wales mental health unit that was likened to a zoo.

Families of patients at Glan Clwyd Hospital's Tawel Fan ward in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, said they looked like captured animals.

Dr Kate Chamberlain, chief executive of Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), said opportunities were missed for the body to be more robust.

BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke reports.
