Kirsty Williams to look closely at A-level results

Education Secretary Kirsty Williams said performance in the top grades at maths was the benchmark for other subject areas at A-level.

Ms Williams, on a visit to a school in Maesteg, Bridgend county, said numbers achieving the highest grades were "encouraging" but there were some areas "where we are not where we would want to be".

She told BBC Wales education correspondent Bethan Lewis she would look closely at the results to see what lessons could be learnt.
