Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team fire 'hit morale'
A fire which caused about £500,000 at Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team's base in Merthyr has hit team morale, its deputy team leader has said.
Fire crews were called to the blaze in Dowlais, near Merthyr Tydfil, on Saturday night.
The voluntary team's main rescue vehicle has been completely destroyed, while two 4x4s and most of their equipment was also damaged.
Deputy team leader Huw Jones said the team was "devastated" by the blaze.
