'Great pressures' on A&E, says Carwyn Jones
First Minister Carwyn Jones has said there are "great pressures" on Welsh hospitals after a senior nurse said working in A&E was more stressful than a war zone.
It is understood the nurse, from Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales, had served in the emergency department of a field hospital in Iraq after the invasion of 2003.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said staff at all levels were working "tirelessly" to cope with "extraordinary demand" for their services.
In response to a question from Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Kirsty Williams, Mr Jones said measures were being taken to reduce the pressure on A&E departments, including better provision of GP services around Wales.
