Health board boss and Unison on Cardiff emergency report

The chief executive of the health board running Wales' biggest hospital, found to have a "culture of bullying, harassment and inappropriate behaviour" at its emergency unit, has said he takes full responsibility.

A damning independent report into the emergency unit at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, said the issues affect staff at all levels.

It also found "authoritarian" managers and a "significant risk of harm to patients" in how the unit was run.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said it fully accepted the findings and recommendations.

Prof Adam Cairns, chief executive of the health board said they had to do more.

Meanwhile, Mike Jones, branch secretary of Unison, told BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke he was not aware of any member of staff being suspended for raising concerns - and if there were any he would act swiftly.
