Thousands of people flee Libya

As the unrest in Libya shows no sign of abating the government is sending two charter planes to the capital Tripoli to evacuate British citizens stranded there.

The Foreign Secretary William Hague also said that a British warship is expected to arrive off the Libyan coast tonight.

Thousands of people are pouring out of the country's borders by road, desperate to escape amid fears of increasing bloodshed.
