EU agrees 'concrete steps' on Mali

EU members have agreed a number of "concrete steps" to try to stabilise the situation in Mali - where government and foreign troops are fighting militant Islamists.

Speaking in Brussels, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said that EU foreign ministers would press ahead with plans to send a team to train the weak Malian army.

Baroness Ashton also said she was encouraged to hear that Mali's leaders were committed to adopting a roadmap to "recover the north" and move towards elections.
