Obama: Mandela 'one of the most profoundly good humans'

President Obama has paid tribute to Nelson Mandela, stating that he was one of the most "influential, courageous and profoundly good human beings that any of us will share time with on this earth".

He cited Mandela as an inspiration, revealing that one of the first things he did in relation to policy was a protest against apartheid.

Mr Obama said: "He no longer belongs to us; he belongs to the ages"
