Hundreds feared dead as migrant boat capsizes off Libya

Hundreds of migrants are feared to have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea after their overcrowded fishing boat capsized off the coast of Libya.

The boat overturned after a rescue vessel came in sight, as migrants rushed to one side.

The Irish navy told the BBC that one of its boats was involved in the rescue operation and said it feared there had been "a significant loss of life".

It is feared that 200 people may have drowned.

James Robbins reports.
