Over the 20 years since the US launched its 'War on Terror' in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, the battle against violent extremism has been partially waged on African soil.
Despite this, jihadist movements have been spreading across the continent, with Mozambique the latest theatre of the conflict. So, what’s gone wrong?
