Red Cross reports areas of Vanuatu 'flattened' by cyclone

The president of the Vanuatu Red Cross, Hannington Alatoa, has told a press conference that pilots flying over parts of the island nation have reported seeing areas "flattened" by Cyclone Pam.

A state of emergency has been declared in the tiny state of 267,000 people, spread over 65 islands, after the storm struck on Saturday.
