End of the road for India's Ambassador cars?

India's oldest car maker has halted production of the Ambassador, a vehicle that for decades symbolised the country's political class.

Hindustan Motors said work at its plant near Calcutta had been suspended indefinitely because of low productivity, mounting debts and lack of demand.
