Cargo ship runs aground off Brittany coast

A Maltese-registered cargo ship has run aground off the coast of Brittany, after high winds and torrential rain hit northern France.

The 19 crew members on board the TK Bremen were airlifted to safety by helicopter.

Booms have been deployed to contain an oil spill which threatened a nearby beach.

Authorities are also attempting to empty the stricken ship's tanks which contain 220 tonnes of fuel.
