Radovan Karadzic denies Bosnia war crimes

The man who led the Bosnian Serbs during the Balkans conflict, Radovan Karadzic, has begun his defence at the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

The charge list against him includes crimes against humanity, mass murder, rape and genocide.

In his opening remarks, Mr Karadzic described himself as a mild and tolerant man, who only sought peace.
