G8 Summit: Jose Manuel Barroso hails EU-US trade talks

Jose Manuel Barroso has hailed EU-US plans to negotiate "a comprehensive transatlantic trade and investment partnership agreement".

The European Commission president said such a move would have been difficult to imagine two years ago, acknowledging that reaching a deal would not be easy.

But he said such a partnership would have "real strategic importance... for growth and jobs".
