US-EU trade talks: Atlantic deal 'is future', says Van Rompuy

David Cameron, Barack Obama, and the leaders of the European Commission and Council, have unveiled an agreement to open negotiations on an EU-US trade deal.

The talks will start next month, with the aim of concluding by the end of 2014.

At a news conference at Lough Erne in Northern Ireland, where the G8 Summit is taking place, the president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, said a comprehensive trade agreement between the US and Europe made sense.
