King Carlos abdication: Thousands join anti-monarchy protest

Thousands of protesters in Spain have taken to the streets to call for a referendum on the future of the monarchy, following King Juan Carlos's decision to abdicate.

On Monday, the king announced his intention after nearly 40 years on the throne.

Juan Carlos was seen as popular for much of his reign, but recently many Spaniards have lost confidence in him.
