Ukraine conflict: Russia defends convoy movement

Russia has defended its decision to send more than 100 aid lorries into war-torn eastern Ukraine without permission, following a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Russia's UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin accused Western powers of distorting reality, focusing on the convoy rather than the need of civilians in the region.

Mr Churkin also insisted that the convoy had received official acceptance from authorities in Kiev before moving into Ukraine.
