Ukraine crisis: Nato chief Rasmussen announces new force
Nato will assemble a "readiness force" in response to Russia's actions over Ukraine, its secretary-general has announced.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the details would be confirmed at this week's Nato summit, which comes amid continuing clashes between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels. Russia denies supporting the rebels.
Mr Rasmussen told reporters in Belgium the force could include "several thousand troops" from allied countries.
He warned that the alliance could not "afford to be naive" over Russia - a country which he said considers Nato "an adversary".
