EU offers Turkey deal on tighter border controls

The European Union has offered to make it easier for Turkish nationals to come to the EU if Ankara attempts to slow the numbers of migrants and refugees crossing its borders with Europe.

More than 600,000 people have reached the EU by sea so far this year, many of them travelling through Turkey.

Meanwhile Hungary is preparing to shut its border with Croatia; the numbers crossing there had reached several thousand a day.

BBC's Damian Grammaticas sent this report from the border town of Botovo.
