US-Cuba Relations: The crumbling American colony in Cuba
In 1900, 200 men and women from the United States sailed to Cuba, intent on building a colony on the Caribbean island.
They hoped that if enough of their fellow nationals followed their lead, eventually Cuba would be annexed by the US.
They were headed for plots of land they had bought unseen, lured by promises of wealth and beauty. But they had been sold a lie.
Will Grant reports from the remains of this American outpost in Cuba.
