Snow sweeps across war-torn Syria

Wintery storms have swept across Syria forcing roads and schools to close and blanketing refugee camps with snow.

Amateur videos uploaded to YouTube show many parts of the war-torn country are now deserted, as people take cover from the cold.

The BBC has not been able to independently verify these images, but based on additional checks we believe they are genuine.
