Kurds claim 'biggest victory yet' against IS militants

Kurdish forces in northern Iraq have claimed their biggest victory yet against Islamic State (IS) militants.

A combination of 50 US airstrikes and 8,000 Kurdish forces succeeded in driving the extremists from Mount Sinjar, a key stronghold in Iraq.

Thousands of members of the Yazidi community and other displaced Iraqis have been trapped on the mountain since August.
