Iraq crisis: BBC gains rare access to refugees' Mount Sinjar

The US said it has broken the siege on Mount Sinjar in Iraq, allowing thousands of Yazidis to escape.

It says a rescue mission to help refugees still in the mountains, who have fled from Islamic State fighters, is now unlikely.

The UN has declared its highest level of emergency in Iraq, as a humanitarian crisis follows the advance by Islamic State (IS) militants in the north.

The BBC's world affairs correspondent Paul Wood has driven up the mountain to meet the refugees who are still there.
