GMB union could sever Labour party affiliation - Kenny

The General Secretary of the GMB union, Paul Kenny, told BBC HARDtalk's Sarah Montague that it is "inevitable" that the rules governing the union's association with the Labour party will change. Mr Kenny predicted the changes will see the GMB split from party affiliation and become free to use their funds more effectively to call for social change.

He added that if more members of trade unions were to join Labour it would "transform the party" with thousands of activists with strong opinions working at grass-roots levels.
