Haifaa al-Mansour: Saudi Arabia becoming more tolerant

The Saudi film director, Haifaa al-Mansour, tells Gavin Esler that while change has been slow to come to the kingdom, it is important to implement reforms at a pace that Conservatives are comfortable with.

In Saudi Arabia, women are forbidden from driving and must be accompanied in public places by a close male relative.

Haifaa al-Mansour is one of a small number of film directors in Saudi Arabia. Her award-winning film, Wadjda, is seen as a reflection of Saudi society.
