Obama: US budget deficit deal can be reached

US President Barack Obama has said he believes Democrats and Republicans can come together to reach a deal on the federal budget deficit.

But President Obama warned a failure to tackle the deficit could cause "serious damage" to the US economy and that he would "find every dime" of wasteful spending.
