Hawaii homes threatened by molten lava flow

Flowing lava from an erupting volcano could force dozens of residents in Hawaii to flee their homes.

Authorities have told people to be on standby after the lava flow crossed a road on the edge of Pahoa, the largest town in the mostly rural region of Puna on the Big Island.

The Kilauea volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983 and has caused extensive damage to homes and businesses.
