BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton says: "This is an example of an end-of-season game which is impossible to predict. It is the champions versus the FA Cup winners but I have no idea what kind of teams both managers will put out.

Liverpool have pretty much been on the beach since they secured their title at the end of April, while Palace left out several first-team players in their win over Wolves on Tuesday, with Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta only coming on for the last 10 minutes.

Palace are on a high after their Wembley win last weekend and if Eze and Mateta start against a weakened Liverpool side then I'd fancy the Eagles' chances. They have got some good players, and the pressure is completely off them.

You have to think that Arne Slot will go with a strong side here, though, to finish a great season with a win in front of the Anfield crowd before Liverpool get their hands on the Premier League trophy at full-time.

That's what I am guessing Slot will do.

Slot might do something very different and Eze and Mateta could cause carnage if Virgil van Dijk is left on the bench again, like he was in Monday's defeat by Brighton."

Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk will lift the Premier League trophy before a jubilant crowd at Anfield whatever the result against Crystal Palace.

The Netherlands centre-back, a veteran of previous open-top bus parades following cup wins in 2019 and 2022, told the Liverpool Echo he hopes this year's celebration will be "even more crazy than ever".

As with all parties, it's important to pace yourself... so let's have a look at what lies ahead for us during the next day and a half...

Today is all about Liverpool's players finally getting their mitts on the Premier League trophy and sharing the magical moment with their fans - both inside Anfield and around the world.

Before that, though, the Reds take on Crystal Palace, with kick-off at 16:00 BST.

And then, once everyone has had the chance to grab a bit of kip (or pulled an all-nighter)...

Monday's trophy parade will start at about 14:30 BST from Allerton Maze (where Queens Drive meets Allerton Road) in Mossley Hill before making its way into the city centre along a 10-mile (15km) route.

There are no dedicated viewing areas but Liverpool City Council said it has made the parade route as long as possible to give people the best chance of watching their title-winning heroes go by.

Provisionally, it is expected to last between three and five hours.

Liverpool of course ended their 30-year wait to win the league in 2019-20.

Their first Premier League crown - and a record-equalling 20th top-flight league title - came during Covid when there were tight restrictions on public gatherings.

Fans were not able to fully enjoy a moment decades in the making and watch from the stadium as Liverpool's players lifted the trophy.

The stadium was largely empty for the ceremony, as it had been for much of the season as pandemic restrictions kept people at home.

The Egyptian King needs to score or assist against Crystal Palace to equal the single-season Premier League record for the most goal contributions.

Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole currently share that boast, with 47 apiece.

Liverpool reporter Matt Addison believes Salah belongs alongside the likes of Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush among the all-time Liverpool greats.

"It's hard to rank these players who come from different eras and have won different things but every box you look at with Salah he ticks."

Chris Arnold has taken the Reds' trophy celebrations to the next level...

The Liverpool fan, originally from Wirral, now lives in Lapworth, Warwickshire.

And he's certainly letting his neighbours know about his footballing allegiances...

Using a ride-on mower, he's "written" LIVERPOOL and drawn an outline of the Premier League trophy.

He then sent a drone up about 400ft (120m) to capture his handiwork for posterity.

Not everyone's happy, though.

He told us: "The wife says she is going to walk out unless I go over it - I’ve just gone to get her coat!"

Liverpool is, in short, going to be a bit rammed this bank holiday weekend!

Numbers are expected to peak around the time of the open-top bus parade on Monday afternoon.

To give you some idea...during Liverpool's 2019 Champions League trophy parade, an estimated 750,000 fans turned out to celebrate.

People have been advised by Merseytravel to stay local to their area and walk or cycle if possible.

Those intending to use public transport are urged to carefully plan ahead, and to expect trains and buses to be very busy.

The Reds may have sealed their crown nearly a month ago, but there's plenty more life left in the party. In fact, it's barely got started!
