    The seat of Devon South West has been Conservative since the 1970s, with Alan Clark representing Plymouth Sutton from 1983 to 1992, when current incumbent Gary Streeter took over.

    This is a varied constituency that incorporates part of the city of Plymouth and is part rural, part coast.

    There were tears in North Devon as the Conservatives took the seat after 23 years of Lib Dem control.

    Tory Peter Heaton-Jones managed to turn a Lib Dem lead of 5,821 votes into a majority of 6,936.

    Sarah Newton has kept her Truro & Falmouth seat after receiving exactly 14,000 votes more than her nearest rival, and has seen a small increase in her majority (2.3%).

    The Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party polled 22,681 votes (44.0%), ahead of Liberal Democrat Simon Rix's 8,681 ballots (16.8%).

    She said: "It's been very difficult and challenging for many people in my constituency and across Cornwall, but we've made some really important progress here, and, with the support of all parties, I want to make sure we build on that and nobody is left behind and we share increasing prosperity in Cornwall."
