  20. Tories set to regain Weaver Vale?published at 01:39 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2019

    James Mountford
    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside

If the exit polls are to be believed - the Conservatives look set to regain Weaver Vale.

Labour’s Mike Amesbury won this seat two years ago from the Tories with a majority of almost 4,000.

In the two previous elections, majorities of less than a thousand were enough to keep the Tories in control.

Weaver Vale is a wide and varied constituency taking in Frodsham, Northwich, Helsby and east Runcorn, making the political landscape unpredictable.

Local issues include fracking, new homes, fox hunting and the Mersey Gateway bridge tolls.

The turnout here is 72% - marginally lower than 2017.
