    In keeping with one of the themes of the evening, Sammy Wilson has used his victory speech to call for Stormont to be restored.

    "We will do our best to restore that assembly so that decisions can be made," he said.

    If it is not possible to restore the assembly, Mr Wilson called for the government to "either bring in direct rule or change the rules to keep the shirkers out and the workers in".

    Chris Hazzard has been re-elected as the MP for South Down, with a decreased majority.

    The Sinn Féin candidate beat the Social Democratic & Labour Party's Michael Savage by 1,620 votes, 826 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

    Glyn Hanna of the Democratic Unionist Party came third and the Alliance Party's Patrick Brown came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 4.4 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 50,000 people, 62.9% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    One of the six candidates, Paul Brady (Aontú) lost his £500 deposit after failing to win 5% of the vote.

    Paul Girvan has been re-elected as the MP for South Antrim, with a decreased majority.

    The Democratic Unionist Party candidate beat the Ulster Unionist Party's Danny Kinahan by 2,689 votes, 519 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

    John Blair of the Alliance Party came third and the Sinn Féin candidate Declan Kearney came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 3.3 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 43,000 people, 59.9% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    All five candidates keep their deposits, after receiving more than 5% of the votes.

    Steve Aiken of the Ulster Unionist Party came third and the Sinn Féin candidate Oliver McMullan came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 3.2 percentage points since the last general election.

    More than 37,000 people, 57.5% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    Three of the seven candidates, Aaron Rankin (Conservative), Angela Mulholland (Social Democratic & Labour Party) and Philip Randle (Green) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.

    Nigel Dodds, a noted orator in Westminster, has given a robust outgoing speech.

    Outlining his record in the constituency on jobs, housing, and health, he noted new MP John Finucane had made "no acknowledgement... of our role over that period".

    He congratulated Mr Finucane on his victory, but said he regretted "the fact however, that North Belfast will be left unrepresented in the House of Commons at a very challenging time".

    The DUP deputy leader also used his speech to call for the reestablishment of Stormont.
